STATEMENT FROM COALITION OF COMMUNITY BASED CHARTER SCHOOLS ON JOINING RALLY TO END STATEWIDE FAILING SCHOOLS
#DontStealPossible DontStealPossible.Org
ALBANY, NY – The Coalition of Community Based Charter Schools, a diverse group of charter schools representing independent charter schools and charters affiliated with well-known social service organizations, released this statement ahead of Wednesday’s rally in Albany to end New York’s failing schools crisis:
“Independent community based charter schools in New York City believe that all families need great schools and deserve a choice. For too long, too many of our students have been doomed to sit year after year in failing schools. This is not acceptable and we all must stand united to say enough is enough. Every child deserves to attend an excellent school whether it be district or charter. There should be no cap on providing high quality educational options for our children.
As public schools, our schools need and deserve equitable per pupil and facilities funding so that we can provide high quality programs and adequately serve all students including students with special needs, English Language Learners and students who come from poverty.
It is time to remove the politics and move forward together to ensure that New York State becomes one of the best places to learn for our PK-12 students. The Coalition is committed to working collaboratively to make this a reality.”
